With over 20 years' experience of working in the renewable energies industry in the UK, Europe, Africa and Australia, Green Switch Australia is a provider of both renewable energy and energy storage solutions. Green Switch has a proven track record in providing solar PV installations to all segments of the market including utility scale, large scale commercial, industrial, agricultural and domestic markets. Our team have significant experience in developing, building, owning / funding and operating renewable energy projects. The leadership of Green Switch have been involved in over 200 projects and delivered over 2.0 GW of solar renewables in the last 9 years with an investment value in excess of $5 billion.
Green Switch Australia commenced operations in 2015.
Prior to establishing Green Switch Australia, James founded Lightsource Renewable Energy Ltd (based in the UK) in 2010 and was a Managing Director until March 2014 and Global Board member until 2016. Under the management of James Lee, Lightsource grew to become Europe's largest solar PV developer and operator, and a world leader in pioneering solar projects. As the Chairman of Green Switch Australia, James gives the company strategic direction and expertise with regards to all its operations, general and financial management.
James has a Bachelor of Building and a Bachelor of Planning and Design from the University of Melbourne and has worked in the fields of Construction, Property Development and Renewable Energy for over 25 years.
In addition to his current role with Green Switch Australia, James also holds board positions with AGES PLC (Africa Growth and Energy Solutions PLC, an African Renewable Energy business), Arilee Ltd, a private clean energy investment business, and 3ti Energy Hubs Ltd, a solar and BESS EV charging business. James also holds board advisory roles with Integrum Renewable Energy Ltd, a utility scale solar and BESS developer (backed by Omnes Capital) and Ortus Energy Ltd, a solar C&I business backed by Fiera Capital. James resides in London UK, although he hails from Melbourne / Geelong in Australia. He continues to have an active role in Green Switch Australia and travels to Australia on a regular basis for business.
Symon is the Commercial Director at Green Switch Australia. He is managing the creation of a number of investment / commercial enterprises under the Green Switch umbrella in Australia. Symon provides ongoing input into the GSA utility scale pipeline in areas such as management of legal advisors, preparation of legal / corporate documents and processes.
Symon has gained his experience in solar working in the Green Switch UK companies and working with our international partners both here in Australia and globally.
Previously Symon has held senior management roles and Director roles at Pennon Group a FTSE 250 company in the UK and at Pennon subsidiary, Viridor a leading waste management and recycling company. Whilst at Viridor, Symon was responsible for many key strategic projects including the AUD $300m Dunbar Energy from Waste Plant and local government waste and recycling contracts worth more than AUD $5 billion.
Symon has a Batchelor of Science degree in Mineral Estate Management. Symon has lived in Australia for over 7 years .
GSA has a highly experienced team of managers and professionals that work within the business both directly and indirectly. We also work with our specialist advisors in areas such as planning grid / electrical engineering, legal and financial to bring our projects to completion
